Every year, over 5 billion single-use cups are used in the UK’s coffee shops and takeaways. Many of which contain plastic.
Only 4% of these cups are sent for recycling - with the remainder ending up in landfill, being burned, or polluting our oceans, putting marine life at risk.
Since October 2018, a 25p levy was introduced for single-use cups sold in the Houses of Parliament - resulting in a massive 74% drop in use.
Urge the government to introduce a levy of at least 25p on all single-use cups and use the proceeds in support of projects tackling the climate emergency and ending waste for good.
